High-precision part machining for perfect results.
Process

Components with extremely tight tolerances are part of everyday life at KE-Technik. However, achieving the required tolerances in the injection moulding process is not always possible. In such case, we offer the option of mechanical part reworking using various processes. Whether parts need to be milled, turned or ground depends on your requirements for the final component. Following consultation with our process engineering department, we are pleased to offer you the most suitable and cost-effective method for this.

Where plastic injection moulding reaches its limits in terms of precision or a component requires additional features that cannot be achieved using a mould, we rely on the precision and efficiency of machining. It is therefore a matter of course for us to rework plastic or hybrid parts that do not yet fulfil all dimensional requirements or properties using CNC control – by milling, turning, grinding or drilling, we achieve the desired tolerances to within a hundredth of a millimetre. Post-processing with CNC machines guarantees ideal repeat accuracy, fast cycle times and high efficiency in series production.

Fields of application:

Post-processing of plastic or hybrid parts is used when …

  • … rotationally symmetrical parts require a particularly precise fit (e.g. tightness due to positive fit for pistons and cylinders).
  • … surfaces must be of a special quality.
  • … recesses and bores must be made to exact dimensions.
  • … particularly precise deburring is required.
  • … plastic parts have to be joined together.
  • … parts with special technical cleanliness are required.

Efficient plastics processing: The best processes for maximum precision

CNC milling and turning

To achieve optimum results when machining plastics, you need to know how the plastic to be machined behaves and which tools are best suited to machining it in order to avoid damaging the component. Our many years of experience in the machining tools to be used, matched to the material, enable us to achieve optimum results for your applications.

Some materials and components are not only milled, but also need to be sanded due to special surface requirements. Here too, we have the expertise to know which abrasive material can be used for which material in order to achieve the best possible result.

We use this technology to produce precise and durable connections between two thermoplastic parts. High-frequency vibrations are used to partially heat the components to such an extent that they melt at certain points and can thus be welded to other components.

Due to the material behaviour, thermoset parts must always be deburred. We use various methods for this, such as blasting with micro-granulate in partially and fully automated processes or vibratory finishing.
