Thermoset Molding Compounds

Thermoset molding compounds, also referred to as thermoset molding materials, are precursor materials from which thermoset parts are produced through curing. The finished plastic components are created by a chemical reaction, usually triggered by heat or chemical catalysts. During this process, the molding compounds lose their original plasticity and can be shaped under pressure and heat before becoming rigid and infusible. This process is also known as primary forming.
