Chemical-resistant pump housing for de-icing systems
The customer
SCHERZINGER Pump Technology, a dynamic, flexible and experienced problem solver for customised and precise gear and vane pumps.
The challenge
Gear pump housings for de-icing roads and airports – extreme wall thicknesses and differences in wall thickness, very high requirements in terms of dimensional stability (warpage and shrinkage), very tight tolerances, high requirements in terms of mechanical properties and chemical resistance, burr-free transitions in the fluid-carrying area
The solution
The above-mentioned requirements can be met by integrating them into the development phase of the component, by designing it to be suitable for the plastic, by setting the appropriate temperature in the injection mould, by designing the injection points (through accompanying filling simulations during mould design) and by selecting the high-performance thermoplastic material PPS. Very high mechanical strength and chemical resistance, very tight tolerances and dimensional stability with different wall thicknesses can be realised due to the very good shrinkage and warpage behaviour.
