Siedle door phones: perfect plastic processing for immaculate indoor stations in building communication

The customer: Siedle – an innovative technology leader in building communication

As one of the leading providers of building communication systems, Siedle is known throughout Germany and Europe for outstanding product quality and strong innovative capability. The focus of this project is the door phone indoor station – a key component of modern door communication systems that combines functional requirements with sophisticated design.

The challenge: avoiding weld lines and surface defects – without painting or coating

The central challenge in producing the indoor stations was to eliminate visible weld lines around the openings for the buttons. These surfaces had to be achieved directly in injection‑molded quality for the visible area – without any additional surface finishing such as painting or coating. The complete assembly of the base unit and handset also had to be executed flawlessly to ensure perfect appearance and tactile quality.

The solution: high‑precision plastics engineering for flawless indoor stations

The solution was achieved through a precise combination of material selection, tool design, and process control.
The housing of the indoor station is made from a high‑quality ASA/ABS plastic known for its durability, UV resistance, and weather stability

By carefully designing the gate locations and optimizing tool temperature control, disruptive weld lines were eliminated – even in geometrically demanding areas around the button openings.

The indoor station consists of several functionally coordinated components:

  • Housing made of ASA/ABS for robustness and long service life
  • Speaker and microphone for clear audio quality
  • Electronics unit with high‑quality circuit components
  • Buttons and controls made from soft‑touch plastic components for ergonomic operation
  • Copper‑based wiring for reliable signal transmission
  • Optional integrated features such as camera, display, or sensors depending on the model

A product was created that meets the highest aesthetic and functional standards – manufactured entirely using plastic injection molding and fully assembled within a continuous production process.
